Descent is an experimental workshop exploring how guided meditation, sound, and open narrative structures can unlock imaginative agency. The workshop is ready to be launched between the months of October and November 2025.

Sound

The soundscapes performed during the workshop are ambient and cinematic sound journeys composed using field recordings, modular synthesis, and delivered through 4-channel spatial audio. Some live sets are on my Soundcloud. By providing an open architecture and the ingredients for it, I aim to co-create stories that participants complete with their own imagination. The textures of familiar yet abstract sounds activate the brain’s associative pathways, triggering mental imagery without allowing the rational mind to label the sounds. In this ambiguity, the subconscious is left free to lead the experience undisturbed. In some sessions I use symbolic words (for instance using tarot cards) to enrich and anchor the experience.

Meditation

Descent doesn’t fit the typical “sound meditation” archetype. I designed a specific guided meditation that brings the mind not just into a state of focus or relaxation, but into one of letting go: tuning down rational brain activity, sinking into sound, and igniting imagination and the subconscious. In short, meditation is used to put the audience in the perfect conditions to co-create the journey. Many elements are based on peer-reviewed studies in neuroscience of sound and meditation.

In the first part I use a precise sequence of meditation techniques to recalibrate perception, guiding participants into a relaxed, hypnagogic state. Sound at specific frequencies is then introduced to gently support brainwave entrainment- a method used to guide the brain into slower wave states, where insights and imagery become more vivid. Participants are then gradually immersed in my sound journeys. Some experience vivid, film-like visions; others connect with their symbols, memories and emotions, or simply sink into the music.
After the session, I lead a sharing circle and discussion, sometimes followed by drawing, writing, or other forms of expression.

Why Descent?

The idea arose from my own quest to reclaim imagination and creativity  after years in 9-to-5 corporate work. In a hyper-consumerist culture, art is often treated like a product to consume in quantity. This distances us from the fact that we can generate our own meaning and entertainment, as naturally as we did as children. We end up not being able to access extremely rich imaginative and psychedelic states without artificial stimulation.

Amid constant productivity pressures, and both literal and metaphorical noise, our attention is exhausted and guarded. We struggle to slow down and fully engage with subtle details in art or daily life. This dulls imagination, fosters craving for novelty or spectacle, and disconnects many from their creativity. I wanted others to notice how simple it can be to access imagination and experience sound – and art in general – more deeply. So I started developing this workshop taking the roles of both artist and facilitator.

Audience

The workshop is open to anyone curious about sound, imagination, and storytelling; no prior meditation or music experience is needed. It provides an intimate space for listening, reflection, and co-creation, where participants leave with renewed imaginative capacity.
