I’m Luca Ariello, an interdisciplinary artist and designer from Italy, currently based in Rotterdam. My work explores the intersection of neuroscience, meditation, and sound as tools to access memory and expand inner awareness.

At the core of my practice is a belief that sound, particularly recordings and samples beyond traditional tonal music, has a unique power to evoke memory, imagery, and emotion. By manipulating environmental recordings from my personal archive and combining them with synthetic textures, I investigate how sound can access inner landscapes and trigger powerful experiences and narratives. A core element of my research is the neurophysiological impact of sound, drawing from neuroscience and its medical applications, as well as guided meditation and deep listening.

I’m also drawn to the realm of improvisation, where I explore abstract communication through voice, musical instruments, and other media.

My journey has been shaped by a diverse spectrum of experiences, reflected in my interests and knowledge across several fields. After studying economics, I worked for several years in corporate environments before shifting toward a more creative career in design, while beginning my artistic exploration. Over the years, I’ve explored several media such as creative coding, illustration, audiovisual interaction, painting, and traditional music, before focusing on sonic exploration and sound synthesis. This multidisciplinary approach brings a unique perspective to my work and fosters new ideas at the intersection of diverse fields.
